«An artist creates their own symbols.
Symbols are an artist’s language.»

Manifesto of the Life of an Artist

Time is a cycle that at times repeats itself. History does as well. We read it linearly, yet we understand it cyclically. Aristotle associated time with movement, while Descartes approached it through the intellect.

This temporal dimension, studied since Antiquity, ultimately remains an abstract concept, understood differently by each of us.

“Time is the moving order of the cosmos,” wrote Heraclitus. It is this cyclical model that Sandra Cáceres Simons explores through Circular Essays, a body of work that draws upon cosmological perspectives to reflect on the nature of time. These essays engage with the passage of time and the return to a point of origin, using metaphor to evoke the relationship between past, present, and future.

Within the gallery space, Sandra Cáceres Simons constructs an imaginary landscape based on the representation of limits, time, space, and their possibilities within the visual arts. Time is a concept that continually escapes our grasp; it is difficult to assign it form, color, or structure. Yet, even without fully understanding it, time remains an integral part of our lives, our culture, and our consciousness as human beings. Throughout the exhibition, a coherent symbolic language unfolds through paintings, sketches, drawings, notes, installations, and soft sculptures, forming a body of work that invites viewers to engage with the dramaturgy and temporal phenomena at the core of the project.

Circular Essays functions as a multifaceted record of elements drawn from nature through the artist’s lived experience. At the same time, it becomes a structure of her personal universe: a journey along an invisible cosmic thread that narrates both the beginning and the end of her creative process. Temporal and spatial phenomena are synthesized through their convergence, which, according to Lucio Fontana’s White Manifesto, constitute fundamental forms of a new art capable of encompassing all dimensions of existence.
